What an egg mutation actually changes

A mutated egg produces the same species as a normal breed of those two parents — the parent combination still decides the child. • ~1% base chance per egg with a standard cake.
• ~3% chance when you breed with premium cake, which appears to roughly triple the mutation roll.

How to hatch mutated Pals efficiently

The mutation roll happens at breeding, not at hatching, so the goal is to cycle eggs as fast as possible and keep the roll as favorable as possible:

1. Use premium cake.The higher mutation rate is worth the extra ingredients if you're farming mutations specifically.
2. Pick an easy-to-breed target. Every egg is a fresh mutation roll, so a combo whose parents are cheap to obtain lets you hatch far more eggs per hour. Look up your target on its breeding page and start from the easiest-to-obtain parent pair.
3. Keep the farm fed.No cake means no egg — stock the feed box before you go afk, and run an incubator setup that reduces hatch time so eggs don't bottleneck.
