Palworld Breeding Tier List: Best Pals to Breed (1.0)

With 299 Pals in Palworld 1.0, which ones are actually worth investing a breeding project in? This isn't a raw power ranking — it's a list of the Pals that reward breeding the most, grouped by what you want them for. For each, breed for passives and you'll have something far stronger than a wild catch.

Best combat & raid Pals to breed

The legendaries dominate here, and since they're same-species only, breeding is how you turn a caught legendary into a maxed one with a full passive loadout:

  • Jetragon — top-tier flying DPS and the fastest mount in the game; the default answer for a breeding endgame project.
  • Necromus and Paladius — the dark/holy legendary pair, both excellent ground-mount attackers.
  • Frostallion — the ice legendary; strong offense plus a flying mount.
  • Bellanoir and Shadowbeak — heavy-hitting dark Pals worth breeding for passives.

Best work Pals to breed

Work Pals benefit enormously from bred work-speed passives — a good base Pal with the right passives outproduces two ordinary ones:

  • Anubis— arguably the best all-round work Pal (mining and handiwork), and it has many breeding combinations so it's flexible to build.
  • Blazamut — a top-tier kindling worker for high-end crafting.
  • Lyleen — strong planting and medicine production for a self-sustaining base.

Best mounts to breed

  • Jetragon — the fastest flyer; pulls double duty as combat and travel.
  • Frostallion — a strong flying mount if you want an alternative to Jetragon.
  • Ground-mount fans should look at Necromus / Paladius for speed plus damage.

How to actually build these

For the legendaries, remember they're same-species only — catch two and breed for passives. For the work Pals, use the breeding calculator to find the easiest parent pair, then funnel work-speed passive skills into that pair. Whatever you pick, breeding with premium cake gives every egg a shot at a mutation for the absolute ceiling.

Tiers reflect general community consensus for Palworld 1.0 and your priorities may differ — the "best" Pal is the one that fits your base and playstyle. Check any Pal's combinations on the full Pal list.
