How to Make Cake for Breeding in Palworld 1.0

Cake is the one thing every breeding project depends on. No cake in the Breeding Farm means no egg — so before you plan combos, passives, or chains, you need a steady cake supply. This guide covers what cake is made of and how to set up a base that produces it on autopilot.

The cake recipe

Cake is baked at a Cooking Pot (or the faster Electric Kitchen) from five ingredients:

  • Flour — milled from wheat.
  • Red Berries — from a berry plantation.
  • Milk — from a ranch Pal.
  • Eggs — from a ranch Pal.
  • Honey — from a ranch Pal.

None of these are rare, but you need all five at once and in bulk, which is why cake feels like a bottleneck until you automate the inputs.

Set up the ingredient chain

The goal is to never gather ingredients by hand. Build each input as its own small production loop at your base:

  1. Flour: plant a wheat plantation, then assign Pals to a mill so wheat becomes flour automatically.
  2. Red Berries: a berry plantation with planting and gathering Pals keeps a passive supply coming in.
  3. Milk, Eggs, Honey: place the right ranch Pals on a Ranch and they produce these while they idle — this is the biggest time-saver for cake.

Keep the Breeding Farm fed

Once ingredients flow in, route finished cake to the Breeding Farm's box and keep a buffer stocked. A farm that runs dry mid-batch stalls your whole project — if breeding "stops working," the cake supply is the first thing to check (see common breeding mistakes).

How much cake do you actually need?

More than you'd think. Breeding for passive skills or mutations means hatching many eggs per target, and each egg costs cake. Serious breeders treat cake production as base infrastructure, not something to craft on demand. Get the supply running first, then start your project from the breeding calculator.
